Benjamin Mendy found not guilty of six counts of rape.

Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Jurors could not reach verdicts on one count of rape and one of attempted rape – alleged to have taken place at Mendy’s £4.7million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, following a six-month trial at Chester Crown Court.

The 28-year-old’s co-accused, friend and ‘fixer’ Louis Saha Matturie, 46, was cleared of three counts of rape relating to two teenagers, with the jury unable to reach verdicts on three rapes and three sexual assaults against five other women.

Both men now face a potential retrial on the remaining counts.
