Berekuso Celebrates Obaapaa Women And Children Day

 

Berekuso a sub town in the Akuapem district celebrates Obaapaa Women and Children day. This occasion was celebrated as part of their Ohum festival.

The program begun at 9:00am in the morning at Berekuso with performance to usher in Nana the chairman and other invited guest. The opening prayer was said at 10:00 to officially begin the program, the MC introduced the chairman and the invited guests for the occasion.

 

 

 

Welcome address was given by chairman of the planning committee Nana Otu Afari. Purpose for the event (Obaapaa Women and Children Day) was delivered by NanaHemaa A Awindor.

Obaapaa Women and Children Day saw huge number of attendence. This people include citizens of Berekuso parents, students and teachers.

The program continued with a cooking competition by the women from Berekuso.

There was a lot of dignitaries who came in to grace the occasion. Some of this dignitaries are Odeefo Oteng Korankye Berekusohene and Twafohene of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Dr Mrs Rebecca Awuah Nkosuohemaa of Berekuso, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Dr Rev Nana Yaa Owusu, Madam Cynthia Prah representative of UN , members of the Queen Mothers Association and many more.

Some of the invited guests spoke to students on the to learn hard to attain higher height in their education and also advised and encourage parents to help support their wards to gain a brighter future in education.

The program proceed by a cultural dance by Queen mothers and tasting of food by some Queen Mothers to award marks.

 

Nana Oteng Korankye then gave a Thanksgiving speech to climax the program and also invited all and sundry to the grande durbar on Saturday 29th February the program then came to an end at 5:00pm with refreshments.
