Versatile Ghanaian Afrobeat artiste, songwriter, composer and performer William Nii Dodoo Darko popularly known in the art and entertainment circles as Talisman is one of the few talents who has contributed a lot in the art and entertainment, seeing to it growth.
With over two decades of experience, Talisman is the former lead percussionist/ drummer and vocalist for Gonje Band, Big Twins Band, and also played with other respected bands across Europe.
Talisman talked about who inspired him to becoming an artiste and what has kept him going in the last few decades.
According to him, his love for music began at a tender age after seeing his father playing the Kpalogo drum and singing during a family gathering.
“Seeing my father playing the kpalogo drum and singing was an inspiration, and right there I knew I had to pursue that dream”, he said in an exclusive interview.
Talisman started his journey at age fourteen from the National Theatre of Ghana where he auditioned and was selected to be part of the Indigen African which was the first Pan African Youth Orchestra.
The group played huge roles in his career, polishing and bringing him to the limelight. It also gave him a lot of exposure by traveling within Africa and across Europe sharing stages with renowned musicians all over the world.
Talisman with his experience and journey is looking forward to impacting into the young ones by making them embrace their tradition and culture.
